“The absurd man is he who never changes.” Auguste Barthelemy
Are you going through a change in your life? Is it difficult to let go of what you’re losing? What will you do today to refocus your attention on what you’ll gain from the change? Lord, thank You that in this world of change whichI live in, You help me adjust and You ground me—because you never change. Amen Note: Auguste-Marseille Barthelemy (1796-1867), a French satirical poet whose primary popularity came from his political peoms favoring the views of the opposition party. He was a comtemporary of Joseph Mery (1798-1866), and the two collaborated on many work during their lifetime due to their similar sensibilities.

“Being a person of faith means that all of the phenomena of the world are seen through a lens of gratitude to something bigger than you.” Mayim Bialik“What is the definition of legacy software?” I asked. They gave me examples, but no one could give me a definition. I suspect that it was too new a term for everyone to fully understand the concept. In order for them to define something they would need to have known the distinguishing criteria between legacy software and non-legacy software.
The key element in her quote was: gratitude. "Gratitude" took her words from a mere comment into the realm of definition. The reason gratitude is so important to me is because, as believers in God we don't take credit for something God does for us. Many people are grateful, but not everyone gives credit where credit is due.
Do you wonder what this new term ‘world view’ means? Have you thought basing your ‘world view’ on an expression of gratitude? What will you do today to formulate your ‘world view’ so you can share it when asked? Lord, help me utilize this understand of world view to glorify Your name. Amen “Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father…;Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God.” Ephesians 5:20; I Thessalonians 5:18
“Count the lessons learned from failures as rungs upon the ladder of progress. Press onward toward the goal." Anonymous
If I hadn’t viewed each false start as a learning experience I might have thrown it down in complete frustration and never finished it. It’s not finished yet, so I might still have more to learn (like go buy a pattern), but I’m keeping frustration at bay by viewing my ‘do overs’ as lessons learned.
Do you every try to fix something and then realize you needed to start over? When you have to start over, do you get frustrated? How will you change your thinking so a ‘do over’ doesn’t feel like a failure?
“Inside myself is a place where I live all alone, and that’s where you renew your springs that never dry up.” Pearl S. Buck“Gene and I are retiring to North Carolina in a few weeks, but we can have lunch,” Maxine explained. I had gone to Maxine to ask if she would disciple me. She was one of the older ladies in church and I just knew that time with her would help me find the rest and energy I was lacking.
Over lunch I poured out my dilemma and Maxine then spook a few words I’ve never forgotten. “You minister to others from what’s overflowing. If your cup is not full to overflowing, you have nothing to give.” In the next hour she poured out enough wisdom that took me months to digest and apply. She challenged me to sit at the feet of God to receive rest and be filled to overflowing.
Do you every experience episodes of mental or spiritual exhaustion? Are you grasping at straws to find a solution to your dilemma? What will you do this week to ‘fill your cup’? Lord, thank You that Your Spring of Life is always available and never runs dry. Amen
